Baby B & Me: Milk Street Baby Launch at Berg’s Baby & Teen Furniture

THIS KID. 14 months going on 14 years. But while she’s still just a baby and not quite yet a teen, I’m going to embrace every chance I have to remind her that she’s still my little girl. So what better place for that than at the baby furniture store where we shopped for the furniture in her nursery!!

Saturday, we had the opportunity to spend some time at Berg’s Baby and Teen Furniture in Lyndhurst for the Milk Street Baby furniture launch. I was invited to co-host the event (little ol’ me!) along with fellow local / mom blogger, Rachel from It’s A Hero, plus get to know Milk Street’s owner and designer Julie Knisley and the awesome team at Berg’s.

From top left, clockwise: Berg’s owner Dave and Milk Street’s Julie, Rachel from It’s A Hero, and our little family

Just within a few moments of meeting Julie, you could feel just how excited she was to share her products with us and all of Northeast Ohio. Julie started Milk Street after years of experience designing luxury nursery furniture lines for well-known brands like Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. The passion that drives her work revolves around crib safety. In this new line, she brings together this with her eye for design and incredible finishes to create very special pieces including cribs, dressers, nightstands and more.

Julie is also passionate about buying local, both in her own life but especially when it comes to buying her nursery furniture! That is why Milk Street works with exclusive, independent stores around the country where you can find employees ready to offer a wealth of knowledge to their customers about these products. So no wonder she chose Berg’s! They were so into the launch that they had “Milk (Street) and Cookies” available to munch on during the launch event!

We had a great time asking Julie all about the collections Milk Street offers, including the True Collection, Relic Collection and Cameo Collection on display at Berg’s. (You can view Milk Street’s full catalogue online here.) Brenna really got up close and personal with the cribs – she insisted on jumping right on in to one!

..but even crib-loving babies get a little slap-happy with too much fun, and so it was time to get this little girl home for nap time at home.

…but not without recognizing what a great time we all had at Berg’s that day — silly, squirmy baby and all!

CHECK OUT MY FACEBOOK LIVE FROM THE LAUNCH: We went live on my Facebook page during the event. You can still access the video here on Facebook — it’s a great conversation between me, Julie and Berg’s owner Dave about Milk Street, the launch and all the great things happening at Berg’s these days!

Cleveland Connects at GrooveRyde Downtown

Have you ever met someone and known from that instant that they were the real deal? That their hard work and dedication spoke volumes through the people the reach on a daily basis? That when you hear the words “work hard, play hard”, that person immediately pops in your head? Well, in my case, it’s two people – Zosimo and Anjua Maximo. This husband/wife dynamic-duo are the co-owners and co-founders of a very special company that is shaking up how Cleveland gets their fitness in: GrooveRyde.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Anjua and Zos for a few years now and will admit I always thought it would be a blast to team up with them in some way. So after reconnecting with them late last year, an idea came up to bring together some of Cleveland’s movers and shakers for a night of fitness and networking — and one heck of a good time. Cleveland Connects was officially born.

This past Friday night, influencers (both online and offline ones) gathered at GrooveRyde’s new downtown location (at East 12th and Chester Avenue) for our first Cleveland Connects networking event. So many beautiful Clevelanders were there, including:

Yup, we had a full house, all ready to mix, mingle and move!

The night featured GrooveRyde’s three signature workouts (AKA my fitness trifecta):

  • Beat Box: Zos got us started with hand wraps and boxing gloves which meant only one thing: Beat Box. This workout features a full-body workout that combines boxing/kickboxing with bootcamp strength exercises. It was my first time boxing with a bag and I LOVED it!
  • Groove Cycle: Lauren (@lo_gatto on IG) taught an indoor cycling class filled with cardio and endurance-based aspects that incorporated choreographed movements and light hand weights — all on GrooveRyde’s Schwinn AC Performance Plus Carbon Blue bikes. I could have stayed on that bike all night, especially with the jams Lauren had us moving to!
  • Buti Yoga: This calorie-scorching workout fuses power yoga with cardio-intensive tribal dance and body sculpting primal movement. Created by Celebrity Trainer Bizzie Gold, Anjua was one of the first teachers teaching Buti Yoga in the Cleveland area and she shared the practice with us Friday night. I find it fun to combine familiar vinyasa yoga moves with motions that get me out of my comfort zone!

75 minutes later: we were still all smiles, even if we were all pretty sore!

After our workouts, we had the opportunity to enjoy some eats from Raw Trainer (including their famous Natcho Cheez sauce — OMGGGGG) as Anjua dove into how GrooveRyde embraces the concept of Heart and Hustle. But honestly, with a crew like this, no verbal explanation was needed — you could FEEL just how committed Zosimo, Anjua and the entire GrooveRyde crew is to putting their hearts into everything while hustlin’ to bring their dreams into fruition.

There are not enough words to thank this group of amazing humans for allowing me to be a member of the GrooveRyde team for this incredible gathering. A special thank you to the event sponsors – The Beauty Room, Lululemon Crocker ParkNOOMARaw Trainer and The RefreshinQ Co. for their support and generosity.

Keep in touch with GrooveRyde at Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Check out their studio schedules at their website. I’ll see you there in one of their classes very soon!

Disclosure: Thank you GrooveRyde for inviting me to host this event at their downtown location! GrooveRyde provided all in attendance Friday evening with a complimentary evening of workouts, eats and connectivity. All thoughts and opinions are always 100% my own.

My Interview on the Delivering Strength Podcast is LIVE!

It is turning into a busy week (keeps me out of trouble, ha!) and all for great reasons! I’m looking forward to a jam packed weekend with plenty of events to attend, host and enjoy (more info including recaps to come in the upcoming days!), but today I’m popping in to share a pretty neat opportunity I had with an old friend with a new-ish podcast.

Candace Gesicki, D.C., and Anna Marie Murphy began the Delivering Strength Podcast to be more than just a podcast. They see it as part of a bigger movement to empower women to seek out the information necessary to have an informed birth. Through their podcast, Candace and Anna Marie hope to educate and empower women to become their own biggest advocates in their health journey. They interview women’s health experts to discuss important topics of today and also look to others to be a part of their movement… and that’s where I come in!

They recently began sharing women’s birth stories on the podcast and asked me to share mine. While I shared a very abbreviated version here on the blog, it felt like the perfect opportunity to dig in a bit deeper around a topic that needs to be talked about — managing anxiety before, during and after pregnancy.

Listen to my interview on the Delivering Strength Podcast here (also available on on iTunes, Stitcher & Google Play)

Keep up to date with the Delivering Strength Podcast via their website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Thank you again to Anna Marie and Candace for allowing me to share my story on their podcast!
