my weekend out & about in #CLE (the Kimpton Schofield Hotel edition)

Fifteen months into motherhood, I realize that parents come across major milestones without their children from time to time. We had the opportunity to experience one this weekend: our first overnight together away from our little girl. [cue the waterworks here]

When the Kimpton Schofield Hotel – located in the heart of downtown Cleveland at the corner of East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue – invited us to enjoy a “staycation” night away from home, we took advantage of 1) grandma’s availability to babysit Baby B and 2) the reason to celebrate Valentine’s Day a few days early. And as much as I adore our little girl, mama and dada were ready for a night out!

We checked into the Schofield Friday evening – valeting our car curbside was a breeze, checking into our room at the front counter was a delight and fighting off the want to just hang out in the hotel lobby / “living room” space was rough (as you can see by the photos above), but we found the willpower to make it upstairs to our city view suite. My only regret: not bringing the dogs with us! Kimpton is known for being an extremely pet friend hotel, which you can tell from the water bowls at the front door and the super cute things they do for their furry guests as shown on their Instagram feed. But don’t worry – the Schofield makes their human guests feel right at home as well.

Our suite was spacious and serene, with lots of windows allowing for natural light (and incredible views of our city center) and decor that left me wanting to redesign our entire house. Featuring two televisions (for when Hans wants to watch Sportscenter and I want to watch the news in the AM), a comfy living space and a comfy king bed, what really caught my eye was the bathroom featuring beautiful white marble, a claw foot tub and Atelier Bloem beauty products – available for purchase at the front desk!

Any hotel suite that has this artwork in the bathroom knows how to make this crazy dog lady happy.

Hans and I originally threw the idea around of heading out to enjoy all of downtown Cleveland, but let’s be honest with ourselves here – we’re home bodies, even when not at our home, and we ended up staying in. We went back downstairs to enjoy an outstanding, delicious meal at Parker’s Downtown, located inside the Schofield. (More about our meal here on the blog later this week!)

All that fine dining the night before had me jonesing for a good sweat session the next morning. While the Schofield has a fitness center at their location, the hotel’s team recognized their clientele wanted a more specialized opportunity to get their workout on in the CLE — and in came my friends at GrooveRyde Downtown.

In case you missed it, GrooveRyde is now the exclusive welness partner of the Kimpton Scholfield Hotel, providing exclusive discount to their guests on classes at their new downtown location, plus offering opportunities throughout the year at and around the hotel itself. Case in point…

The Schofield and GrooveRyde are co-hosting an International Women’s Day Workout + Celebration on Thursday, March 8th at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel. Good news: it’s FREE to attend and will feature a workout session led by GrooveRyde co-founder Anjua Maximo, plus complimentary wine and a vendor village featuring TownHall/REBoL, NOOMA, NoMaste Cakes, Sacred Hour Spa, Revival Body Care, Manifest CLE, Refreshinq Co. and more local vendors. The bad news: the event is currently sold out (more than 125 women registered in less than 36 hours!) but they are taking names on a waitlist here. If you’re not already registered for the event, I’d suggest signing up on the waitlist — it’s still a few weeks out, so some spots may open up. LMK if you’re registered for this event in the comments below — I can’t wait to see you at the Schofield then!

LONG STORY SHORT: Our overnight stay at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel turned out to be not enough as I left Saturday morning a bit sad that we didn’t have more time to enjoy the hotel and more of its amenities. We had such a wonderful experience in a short amount of time, it made me long for another opportunity to enjoy all that the hotel had to offer — and another round of that tasty coffee, complimentary to guests in their lobby every morning! I know where we’ll be spending our next staycation… it won’t be long until I find myself back again at this wonderful Cleveland hot spot!

Our deepest gratitude again to the team at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel for their hospitality! Follow the Kimpton Schofield on Facebook and Instagram. Follow Kimpton on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

I LOVE Kimpton hotels & always try to stay in one of the three in D.C. when I visit. The Schofield looks great – & a staycation sounds increidble right about now!
