Happy June, Cleveland! It seems like when Memorial Day hits, Northeast Ohio’s 5K calendar comes to life. You can’t go a weekend without a race happening near you! Looking for one this weekend? Check out the 17th Annual Race for the Place, presented by University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, to benefit The Gathering Place.
Don’t know this Cleveland organization? “The Gathering Place opened in January 2000 as a nonprofit, community-based cancer support center to fill an unmet need in the greater Cleveland community. The programs and services offered address the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of individuals with cancer and their support network. The mission of The Gathering Place is to support, educate and empower individuals and families touched by cancer through programs and services provided free of charge… To date The Gathering Place has served more than 37,000 individuals who have made over 291,000 visits.” (c/o The Gathering Place)
Join your fellow Northeast Ohioans for this 5K / 1 Mile event on Sunday, June 4th at Beachwood Place to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day and support the programs and services at The Gathering Place. Here’s how race day will go down:
- 7:30am – Race Day Registration opens
- 8:00am – Celebration Village opens for fun family activities
- 8:45am – Cancer Survivor Ceremony
- 9:00am – 5K and 1 Mile Begin
- 10:15am – Awards ceremony
Entry fees, as of today — Online registration closes at 9AM on Saturday, June 3rd:
- 5K (Age 16+): $30
- 5K (Age 5 – 16): $20
- 1 Mile (Age 16+): $25
- 1 Mile (Age 5 – 16): $15
