a new role with Playhouse Square // Broadway Buzz Pre-Show Talks with Joe Garry

If you have been following along with the blog the past two years, you know that I have had the wonderful opportunity to serve as Playhouse Square‘s Community Engagement and Education’s blogger for the KeyBank Broadway Series the past two seasons. It has been a pleasure interviewing cast, crew and creative team members from each of the shows that come through the non-profit’s performance spaces. It’s my favorite way of staying connected to my theater roots from my childhood… and the perfect way to say that I’m still using that Baldwin-Wallace theatre major!!

Today I am happy to share not only am I continuing that blogging role into the 2016-17 season, I am now also involved in another fun aspect of the KeyBank Broadway Series: the Broadway Buzz Pre-Show Talks with Joe Garry.

Not familiar with this educational offering from Playhouse Square?? This is your chance to get the inside scoop on each KeyBank Broadway Series show by attending a pre-show talk in advance of most performances. These talks are crafted and presented by long time host, Joe Garry. Admission is free and all are welcome!

As for my involvement? It’s an honor for me to be working with Joe on the Broadway Buzz Pre-Show Talk program as his Editor. The first show we had the opportunity to collaborate on just launched its National Tour here in Cleveland last night — Fun Home.

Joe kicked off his pre-show talks for this incredible production yesterday.  The talks continue during the run of Fun Home — through October 22nd. All Fun Home pre-show talks will take place at the Idea Center (1375 Euclid Avenue, right next door to the theaters) one hour before all performances unless otherwise noted here on the Playhouse Square site. The talks continue throughout the entire 2016-17 KeyBank Broadway Series season, so make sure to make time to head downtown early to hear Joe speak before performances — and make sure to grab a pre-show talk program to see our handy work!

Want to get a feel for what Joe has in store for you? Check out this YouTube playlist featuring his pre-show talks from the 2015-16 season.

As for those blog interviews? My first interview of the year is complete! I had the chance to interview a cast member from Fun Home — stay tuned to the blog this week where I’ll share who it was and what she had to say!
