Vlog-A-Week: fear and power in handstand

We’re in week two of Vlog-A-Week, and I’m talking about my handstand-a-day resolution this Wednesday.

It’s very apropos that this was the Striking Truths image that landed in my inbox as I was editing the video:

  • Not many people know this about me, but I can actually do a reverse handstand. It’s pretty spectacular if I do say so myself…

  • I have never heard of the bolster idea. Funny how these tips are out there but you can go to all different classes and never hear them!

I am on/off with the idea of handstands. I’m not really confident my upper body strength is there. Mostly when it comes up in class I try to hide. Haha.

  • How come you’re not talking about overcoming your fear of vlogging? ;-)

Seriously, I needed this. I’ve been practicing at a new studio and have yet to try an inversion because I don’t feel like I know the people there well enough to either (a) fall down in front of them or (b) ask for help. I need to get past that!

  • Ahh I love this message behind your vlog today! AND seeing your face, you are a great vlogger ;-) I too loved that message from striking truths and think it is SO true. the fear of falling – literally or figuratively, WHAT is the worse that can happen, right? You are amazing.

  • Love this vlog! Love hearing how you’re progressing with your handstands. Inversions and arm balances are so challenging to me because I’m totally freaked out by them! I know that it’s a lot of negative emotions and feelings and fear that gets in my way. I finally feel comfortable in headstand and really love that feeling when I’m in the pose and inverted. Forearm stands and handstands? Not so sure :-)

  • You are so cute. I love this and your handstand goal.
