One year ago, I wrote 2012: a year of simplicity, a year of clarity. The goal for 2012: Keep it simple.
In those three words, I found a focus for the year ahead and promised myself a few things.
Less familiarity. More adventure.
Less running away. More embracing.
Less negativity and snark. More inspiration and motivation.
Less uncertainty. More clarity.
I’ve tried looking through the 162 posts I wrote in 366 days. And in this – my 600th post – I’m finding it difficult to summarize this year with a bunch of randomly hyper linked words to highlight all the ups and downs.
There are still days when I want to quit, when I want to give in. But the potential of being able to start anew is the most exciting thing to me. No matter how many times I fail, I get the opportunity to try again. It’s a mantra I live by daily – because I make mistakes and screw up more often than not.
This year has been very good to me. It’s also been one of the most challenging yet, but those difficult moments set me up for success in the coming year.
So thank you 2012. You’ve been a PITA at times, but such a joy at others.
And now? “The rock candy’s melted, only diamonds now remain.”
