Battery Park Wine Bar was incredibly easy to work with, both in the booking process and the night of. They held the back half of their restaurant space so we could have plenty of room to spread out, as well offered as plenty of options for happy hour food and beverages.
Between all of us, I’m pretty sure we managed to order every single item off their happy hour food menu, but the fries and the mussels seemed to be the most popular choices. The restaurant even had a FourSquare special that a few members were able to take advantage of upon check in. We ate and drank very well that night!
After the introductions and announcements, it was time to swap some bakery!
Almost everyone brought something for the swap. Even though I am not a baker, I was lucky enough to have a seriously awesome friend who was willing to give me all the tools and supplies needed to make those chocolate crinkle cookies (pictured top right). My mom even stepped up, providing the only gluten free option – a very tasty cheesecake pop. Thanks Mom.In all the cookies made for that evening, I was surprised to find that we didn’t have any repeats. Everyone went home with plenty of holiday treats!
LONG STORY SHORT: It’s hard to believe that the members of the OBA have been assembling for meetings for two full years now. With twenty meet ups and four virtual blog swaps, I’ve done a lot of interesting things and met a lot of great Clevelanders. I can’t wait to continue the fun into the new year with plenty of fun activities around Northeast Ohio.
Ready to join us in 2013? We have quite the kickoff planned at Noodlecat on Friday, January 18th. Visit the Facebook page for more info. We hope you’ll join us and bring some friends for a fun night out in downtown Cleveland!
